Hey guys, I LOVE cam clamps. They are the most perfect clamping device for this trade in my opinion. The drawback: cost. My local woodcraft sells them for $20 each. OUCH. So I figured there can't really be that much to making them. Boy was I wrong. Hole placement and angles are absolutely critical or it won't work at all. Anyway, I got it figured out and made a batch of 6 out of Lyptus. I'm wondering if anone else would be interested in me making them some. Why do the hard work when I've already banged it out. And I'm willing to sell them for $10 each. Drop me a line if you are interested. I'll have to do a run of a substancial number to make it worth my while. Thanks Paul ![]() |

Funny -- I had my wife make mine! ![]() All though, she might argue that 10 bucks each would have been a better deal! |

Your right, they have to be done just so to make them work good. I made a couple but caught a sale at StewMac about 10 years ago and bought a dozen. They're great for quick clamping although I have gone to rubberbands for clamping my tops & backs. |

Are the bars steel or aluminum? I think using aluminum might be better to control the weight. All that steel makes for some clamping assembly's very heavy. I would like some lighter ones. ![]() |

Lookin' good, but I can get Klemmsia clamps for between 8 and 16 euros, depending on how huge I want 'em. But you've reminded me I need to go get myself s'more.. |

Lance, now that's the way to get things done around the shop. Wish I were so lucky. Brock, they are AL with brass pins. My theory is that the softer metals would "dig in" a little rather than slide when the cam is activated. But yes, it does save on weight. |
I would be interested in some larger ones 8" or so.
Yeah I'd love to find some 12" ones, the biggest I've seen is 8" and sometimes that's just not enough... -Paul- |
